About Us

Thank you for visiting the Claygate Choral Society website. The Society came into being in 1959 at Holy Trinity Church, Claygate, and is proud of its record of performing major choral works to a high standard over more than 50 years.

Claygate Choral Society draws its members from Claygate and the surrounding areas of Wimbledon, Esher, Thames Ditton, and Walton on Thames. Currently, we have about 45 members. It has been our practice in recent years to invite musical friends to join us for performances, thus making it possible for us to perform
a wider range of works from the choral repertoire.
Our repertoire has covered both major choral works
such as the Bach Passions, his Mass in B minor and Verdi's Requiem, and smaller-scale works such as Britten's Hymn to St Cecilia and Rejoice in the Lamb,
Beethoven’s Meeresstille und Glükliches Fahrt andBruckner’s Three Motets.
The choir performs regularly at Holy Trinity Church, Claygate, and in the past has performed occasionally at the Church of the Holy Name, in Arbrook Lane, on the Claygate/Esher border.

Our members come from all walks of life and we warmly welcome new members, experienced or novice singers, to join us in our collective enthusiasm for making music to as high a standard as possible. We hope that we shall meet you in person either as a singer, as a Friend, as a member of an audience, or at one of our social functions.
